Attendees will also hear from Environment Hamilton's clean steel campaign coordinator, Evan Ubene, about why now is the time to end special air quality exemptions for Hamilton’s steel industry and how this will support a clean steel transition in the city.
Environment Hamilton is closely monitoring progress on the coal phase-out project announced by ArcelorMittal Dofasco and the Government of Canada in 2021. The Government of Canada and Government of Ontario have pledged $450M and $500M towards this project, respectively.
