What to expect
The 2025 Grow the Greenbelt Cycle features a group bike ride to and from Heart's Content Organic Farm (27 Ronald Rd, Brantford ON N3T 5M1). Heart's Content Organic Farm is a 57-acre organic farm located between Brantford and Dundas.
STARTING POINT: Rail Trail Parking on Ofield Road, next to Fairweather Brewing
THE ROUTE: We will be cycling along the Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail. This is a beautiful ride on a gentle grade up the Niagara Escarpment, through the Greenbelt, and through beautiful natural and agricultural areas. The majority of the ride is along rail trails separated from vehicular traffic. Rail trail surface varies along the way - with some gravelly stretches. The route is approximately 22km each way from our starting point.
THE FOOD: A catered, farm-to-table vegetarian meal featuring local producers will be provided by Maxwell Price. Max is an experienced cook who has spent over 5 years in a variety of settings and is the kitchen manager at Coffee Run Co. If you have dietary needs or restrictions, please email [email protected] so we can assist further.
THE EXPERIENCE: Cyclists will depart from our starting point around 9:30am and should expect to arrive at the farm between 10:30 and 11:30am. There will be a stop for a drink and snack along the way. At the farm, there will be wetland tours, medicinal plant walks, and a discussion on the history and story of building the greenbelt and protecting farmers and farmland. Lawn games will also be available for use. A catered vegetarian meal will be provided for lunch. Cyclists can expect to depart the farm between 3:00 and 4:00pm, returning to Hamilton by 5:30pm. For individuals or families that register but may not be able to complete the ride, please note that parking is available at the farm, though we encourage carpooling for those who might drive.
