Evaluating Impacts - Urban Sprawl Vs Firm Boundary - Prep For Aug 4th GIC
Join Environment Hamilton, Hamilton 350.org and Stop Sprawl HamOnt on Thursday, July 29th at 6:30pm for a virtual session that will help you to TAKE ACTION on some key next steps associated with stopping urban sprawl in Hamilton.
WORKSHOP DATE - Thursday, July 29th - starting at 6:30pm
At the Wednesday, August 4th General Issues Committee, City of Hamilton planning staff will present councillors with the final draft version of the 'How Should Hamilton Grow?' evaluation framework - a framework designed to compare and evaluate the city's 'ambitious density' scenario (3,300 acre urban expansion) up against the 'no urban boundary expansion' option (0 acre urban boundary expansion).
Public pressure got the 'no urban boundary expansion' option on the table, and more public pressure got municipal politicians to require staff to assess both of these options utilizing a climate lens, among other factors. It is essential that this evaluation framework is as rigorous as possible when it comes to assessing these two growth management options from a climate resilience point of view.
Our webinar will provide an overview of the city's proposed framework and a critical evaluation of its contents. The session will also provide anyone who is willing with information and support to prepare a written or verbal delegation to the General Issues Committee at their August 4th meeting.
