Pollinator Paradise Project

Posted on Projects by Beatrice Ekoko · February 25, 2018 9:28 PM

The Hamilton Pollinator Paradise Project is a collaborative initiative between Environment Hamilton and the Hamilton Naturalists' Club with support from various funders. We are working with the community to build an uninterrupted pollinator paradise across the City by planting habitat including native plants, milkweed and other wildflowers, in support of our local biodiversity. By creating connected habitats  across the City we will also be increasing neighbourhood resiliency.

Our Strategy
To reach our goal, we focus on city-wide community engagement and education, as well as working to inform policy, locally, provincially and federally. Mapping the project's "pollinator sites" is ongoing and as the map gets filled in, it demonstrates that the community is contributing by creating pollinator gardens. We are also furthering awareness and participation to improve biodiversity in the city, including the Hamilton Monarch Awards to demonstrate appreciation for gardening for the benefit of nature.

Stay tuned for updates concerning our recent focus to increase protection and enhancement of Hamilton's with a Biodiversity Protection Plan.

Visit the Pollinator Paradise Project website for information on how you can get involved.

We would like to recognize the generous support from LUSH Cosmetics for Pollinators Paradise Project work undertaken in 2022!
